History of the Department
          The Department of Chemistry was started in the year 1967 and completed 50 years of its service. Prof. P. Gnanadurai was the first HOD of the department. Under his leadership the department acquires academic excellence. The UG Chemistry was established in the year 1981. After the retirement of Prof. P. Gnanadurai,  Prof V. Rajasingh assumed the headship. During his tenure he was the IQAC coordinator of the college and did great works for the first NAAC accreditation. PG Chemistry course was started in the year 2001 under self supporting scheme by the untiring efforts taken by Prof. P. Gnanadurai. Prof. D. Prince became the HOD in the year 2008 after the retirement of Prof V. Rajasingh. He was the first ever  to implement uniform in the college for the students of Chemistry department. He retired in the year 2017.
            The Department has well equipped separate laboratories for UG and PG courses. The Department has highly qualified faculty members. The UG laboratory was renovated and was dedicated in January 2018. Individual attention is given to each student making their laboratory training valuable. The students are following economical and eco-frienly microscale experiments during practicals which are safe and effective.
